Siteground has a similar three tiered layout for their hosting plans. They begin with the introductory “StartUp” package for single websites, and work up to the “GoGeek” solution that has been tailored to the more advanced clients. Aside from the self explanatory product names, we can also appreciate the clarity on each package, where they provide recommendations based on your monthly visitors.
The introductory StartUp plan begins at just $3.95/month, capable of hosting one website and suitable for up to 10,000 monthly visitors. While the 10GB storage space is just a tenth of that offered at GoDaddy, they use Solid State Drives (SSD) which vastly outperform the traditional mechanical drives. What you sacrifice in storage capacity is more than made up for in performance gains, although the limited space may ultimately become the deciding factor.
At $5.95/month, the mid tier GrowBig plan is ready to host multiple websites, serve up to 25,000 visitors and has double the storage space at 20GB. On top of the “Essential Features” included with every plan, this package also has several “Premium Features” as well. That includes things such as Priority Customer Support, their custom designed SuperCacher for faster website load times and up to 30 off-site backups to conserve precious disk space.
Among the top of the pack, the $11.95/month GoGeek plan is a considerable upgrade by comparison. With a modest 30GB of storage space, this package is designed to handle 100,000 monthly visitors across multiple websites. In addition to the Essential and Premium Features, the self described “Geeky Advanced Features” host your website(s) on low utilization machines, ideal for intensive web applications with high resource demands. They are also PCI compliant servers for secure card payment processing, implemented the safety regulations for eCommerce shops.
Created with the customer in mind, SiteGround clearly explains each of their plans, including estimations as to what can be expected. Features such as free SSL, SSH and CDN integration are included with all packages, services only available with the third tier option at GoDaddy. While their prices are somewhat more expensive, this accounts for the performance grade hardware used in their servers.
GoDaddy vs SiteGround: Who Has The Best Performance?
There are dozens of factors to consider when choosing a hosting provider, but nothing is more important than uptime and performance.
